MISSIONS
The Missions Committee usually meets once a month except in July and August.We maintain a mission room for a mini food bank, children's clothing, some bedding, small appliances, dishes, pots and pans in good condition to be able to assist families in crisis.On the fourth Monday of every month our volunteers take the opportunity to work at St. Vincent's Kitchen in Oshawa. Preparing meals in the morning 9:30am to 12 noon, or working in the kitchen and serving during dinner time 3:30pm, to 5:30pm, or helping with cleanup 5:30pm to 7:30pm enabling many people in need to have a good meal for $1.00. Approximately 200 are served daily.We support financially a family who are missionaries in Africa helping to translate the Bible into local dialects.October/November begins our 7th year supporting Operation Christmas Child - program by Samaritan's Purse headed up by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. Last year we collected 400 shoe boxes filled with gifts going to children throughout the world who otherwise would not receive any gifts at Christmas or hear the Christmas Story.In November we begin our Christmas Hamper program joining with other churches in Whitby to supply needy families in the area with food, turkey vouchers, and gifts for the children.
-We support Armagh, a facility in Toronto which provides shelter for abused women and Evangel Hall, an inner city mission.
